Proud North East artist Kelly Morgan with my painty apron and love of a cup of tea.
I may look calm, but I'm a creative whirlwind—messy, chaotic, and full of energy. I've been called a Tasmanian devil, and honestly? I'll take it!
Little Wonder Woman in the making!
Growing up in Elswick, I developed this wonderfully stubborn belief that I could do anything. That 'delusion' has served me well....
I dreamed of opening a small shop where I could paint and share my work alongside other talented North East artists, all at prices that felt accessible and welcoming.
But first, I needed to find my footing. I started by selling at markets and through small independent shops, gradually developing my style and building the confidence to take that next big step...
In 2007, I opened Artful in Hexham, and it became everything I'd dreamed of and more. Those 17 years of running the shop were filled with joy, creativity, and wonderful connections. Eventually, a new dream called to me—one where I could focus on creating more art, explore wholesale opportunities, and most importantly, spend precious time with my amazing son....
June 2024 brought a new chapter: my studio in Foundry Lane!
It's the ideal space where I can create and display my work just the way I love. Turns out, you can take the girl out of the shop, but you definitely can't take the shop out of the girl!
Reality can be hard, so I much prefer my little imaginary world where everything is colourful and happy.
I believe in celebrating the little things and finding joy in the everyday. I'm passionate about strong, vibrant colours that have the power to lift moods and transform spaces.
Nature is my constant inspiration, especially the changing seasons. I love walking through woodland and being amongst the trees, as long as there's a nice cuppa and cake waiting at the end!
My studio in the Ouseburn is open for visitors!
Pop in Tuesday-Friday 9:30am-2:30pm
&
Saturdays 10am-5pm.
Closed Sundays and Mondays.
